Spring Break at the Rogers Mansion: Whaling
Thursday, April 9
1:30pm – 2:30pm
Set sail into Southampton’s maritime past with this hands-on Spring Break program exploring the village’s rich whaling history. Participants will discover the vital role whaling played in shaping Southampton and gain insight into life at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries. The program will examine both near-shore Shinnecock whaling traditions and the later European offshore methods that expanded the industry’s reach and impact.

Friday, April 10

Join us for an exciting Spring Break program for kids of all ages! During this hands-on experience, children will learn about historic farming practices, discover medicinal plants commonly found in early herb gardens, and explore the history of the large mulberry tree located on the lawn of the
Rogers Mansion.

Halsey House & Garden

One of the oldest English colonial homesteads in New York State. The Halsey family first settled here in 1648 and built this house ca. 1683.

Pelletreau Silver Shop
80 Main Street, Southampton
This tiny building, constructed ca. 1686, is one the oldest continuously operated places of business in the United States. Most famously, it was once the workshop of American patriot and silversmith, Elias Pelletreau (1726-1810).

Conscience Point

A historic site and nature walk commemorating the landing of Southampton’s first English settlers in 1640. Upon reaching the shore, one of the settlers is said to have exclaimed, “For Conscience sake, dry land!”
