This beautiful horse from our collection belonged to Rosalind Case Newell. One can only imagine the restraint a child would’ve needed to resist the temptation of sitting on this horse, which likely would’ve crushed it.

Rosalind received this horse, whom she named Fleetfoot, from her mother in 1895. Fortunately, she kept him in wonderful condition. The Museum received the horse in 1998, and it is now part of our vintage toy collection.

You’re invited to enjoy a wonderful Dinner for Two by Maroni Southold on Thursday, November 10.

You can enjoy a delicious take-out dinner of Grandma Maroni’s famous Italian meatballs served over Penne Pomodoro, while also supporting your local history museum.

Limited tickets are sold in advance for this fundraising event. The deadline to purchase tickets on our website is Friday, November 1.

The cost per ticket is $60, and it includes a hearty meal serving two adults with heating instructions. Pick-up at Maroni Southold at 54195 Main Rd., Southold between 4-7:30 pm on November 10. (No substitutions please.)

The non-juried Ten Squared: A Season for Art exhibit and sale is coming and
artists are invited to submit their work!

The theme of this late fall exhibit revolves around late autumn.
———
Artists can submit up to three pieces that are 10” x 10” only. All mediums are accepted. Finished works are due with submission forms at the Southold Historical Museum office at the Prince Building, 54325 Main Road, Southold between Monday, October 31 and Friday, November 4. Office hours are 10am-2pm.

Each work will be sold for $100, half of which will benefit Southold Historical Museum. The online exhibit and sale will be November 15 – December 15.
Unsold work must be retrieved by January 13 or will be recycled.
