Our latest ‘History As You Like It’ installment by Melissa Andruski details the work of the Ladies Village Improvement Society (LVIS) who dedicated themselves to the betterment of life in Southold.

You can read the fascinating story of how they got their start petitioning for the nighttime lighting of Southold streets, and find out more about some of the projects they brought to fruition. These included helping to ensure the acquisition of the land for what would become Founder’s Landing, among many other initiatives. Join us for an exciting new fundraising event – Southold Historical Museum’s First Pickleball Tournament. Pickleball has been described as an infectious game that promotes laughter, fun, and healthy activity. On June 4, you can get moving, take in some fresh air, and make some friends all while supporting your local museum.

Intermediate and advanced players are encouraged to preregister for the June 4 tournament (rain date June 5), which takes place at the Southold Town pickleball courts at Tasker Park. The format will be change partner, round-robin. Preregistration fee is $50, which includes a tournament t-shirt and refreshments. Registration on the day of event is $55 and also includes t-shirt and refreshments. Due to limited number of players, preregistration is encouraged to avoid being shut out. The event begins at 9am sharp and runs through 1pm.
