The preview for the upcoming Nature’s Embrace Ten Squared Online Art Exhibit & Sale is now on our website through Nov. 10. The page will be closed after that until the sale starts at 9:00AM on Nov. 12.

This beloved fundraising event features 10”x10” works by local artists—each priced at $100, with half of each sale benefiting Southold Historical Museum and half the artist.

Inspired by the peace and connection found in nature, this non-juried online exhibit offers a wide variety of styles and subjects—there’s truly something for everyone. Local artwork makes a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind holiday gift.

Please Vote for Horton Point as ‘Best Lighthouse’

We are so pleased that Horton Point Lighthouse has been nominated in the

21st Annual Best of Long Island Contest! There will only be one winner per category, so we hope that you will participate. Voting is fun and easy!

You can find Horton Point Lighthouse nominated under “Lighthouses” in the Arts & Entertainment category.

Voting runs through December 15, with one vote per person per category per day. Winners will be notified in the new year then announced in the official Best of L.I. Winners Guide.

It’s starting to feel like holiday season at our Treasure Exchange and Gift Shop! Our volunteers do a lovely job setting up displays to create a warm and homey look. Come find beautiful vintage treasures for your upcoming gatherings, or find lovely decor items, children’s toys, accessories, and gift ideas.

The Treasure Exchange and Museum Gift Shop are both open:  Mon. – Wed., 10 AM – 2 PM; Thurs., Fri., 10 AM – 4 PM; and Sat., 12 PM – 4 PM.

Steve Israel, owner of Theodore’s Books and a former U.S. Congressman, will be discussing his new historical thriller, The Einstein Conspiracy, at 3 PM on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Floyd Memorial Library, Greenport.

Mr. Israel will be joined by Darren St. George, Executive Director of Southold Historical Museum, and Amy Folk, Archivist and Curator.

Set at the dawn of World War II, The Einstein Conspiracy imagines a race against time as FBI agents uncover a Nazi plot to kidnap Albert Einstein — a story inspired by real events.

There will be a reception with hors d’oeuvres, light refreshments, and a meet & greet with Congressman Israel at 2:30.

Free and open to the public. Registration required.

You’re invited to attend Southold Historical Museum’s magical Candlelight Tour & Tree Lighting at the Maple Lane Campus of historic buildings on Friday, Nov 28, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM!

Enjoy the delightful decorations, meet Santa in the barn, and watch various historic demonstrations. Tour the historic buildings including the 18th Century Thomas Moore House and the Victorian Ann Currie-Bell House. There will also be a classic railroad display.

Children will enjoy games on the lawn with Santa’s helper. There will be live music throughout the event, and light refreshments available for purchase. Tree-lighting at 5:00.

Admission is free.

We’ve added many new titles.You’ll find books that include stories of local towns and villages, and colorful tales of historical figures, along with books about places and events of regional importance. You’ll find food-related books that include local recipes and wines, and books that cover the works of local artists. Local books make a great gift!
