Tai Chi on the Lawn at the Maple Lane Campus

Celebrate America’s 250th in a peaceful and inspiring setting with a special series of outdoor Tai Chi classes presented by The Giving Room. Surrounded by the historic buildings and scenic grounds of Southold Historical Museum, you’ll enjoy a refreshing way to relax, recharge, and connect with nature this summer.

Classes are led by Denise Gillies and will be held on Saturdays, starting July 4, 2026, from 10:30 AM–12:00 PM at the Maple Lane Campus, 55200 Main Road, Southold.

Museum members receive 20% off registration with the code HISTORICAL.

Special 250th Anniversary Lecture: The Run-Up to the Revolution

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, explore the events that led to the Revolutionary War! Join Southold Town Historian Amy Folk for a fascinating look at local and national history from 1765 to August 1776—the years that drove our nation to what some historians call its first civil war.

When: Friday, July 10, 2026 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Join us in Celebrating America’s Birthday Party

Celebrate “America’s Birthday Party” during an exciting Revolutionary War encampment coming to Southold Historical Museum’s Maple Lane Campus from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 11.

The grounds will be transformed into an exciting living history setting by the reenactors from the Third New York Regiment. The encampment will have everything soldiers would need as they traveled to join up with General Washington and his troops.

There will be children’s games inside of the Bayview School House and on the lawn; a “sing-a-long” of Hamilton in the barn, light refreshments, vendors, and special demonstrations and food tastings.

Don’t miss the festive presentation of America’s birthday cake as celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, along with the live canon blast demonstration.

Admission is free.

America’s 250th anniversary is being celebrated this year, and we’re excited to be part of the festivities. This summer, explore special exhibits and events highlighting Southold’s role in the Revolutionary era.

We’re proud to participate in Suffolk County’s 250th Anniversary Passport initiative and the Redcoats and Rebels History Hunt Challenge to commemorate this significant moment in our nation’s history. We’ll also be celebrating “America’s Birthday” at a special Living History Day. Take a look at what we have planned!
