Southold Historical Museum is now accepting applications for two paid student internships: the Bainbridge Internship and the Gardiner Young Scholar Program.
These hands-on opportunities give high school students a behind-the-scenes look at how a museum works—from preserving local history to creating programs the community enjoys. Interns gain real-world experience, develop new skills, and work alongside dedicated staff and volunteers.
———————–
Each internship includes a $1,700 stipend for 100 hours of service.
Open to students entering grade 10 and up. (Bainbridge applicants must reside in Southold Town.) One application covers both programs.
Applications are due May 29, 2026, with selections announced by the end of June.

America’s 250th anniversary is being celebrated this year, and we’re excited to be part of the festivities. This summer, explore special exhibits and events highlighting Southold’s role in the Revolutionary era.
We’re proud to participate in Suffolk County’s 250th Anniversary Passport Book initiative and the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation Long Island History Hunt to help commemorate this significant moment in our nation’s history. We’ll also be celebrating “America’s Birthday” at a special Living History Day.
Take a look at what we have planned!
