“Autumn in the Air” Party
(Past Presidents Party)

Join friends, new and old, as we honor the Society’s past presidents. Local musician, Michaela Manno, will be performing live, setting the perfect background to enjoy local wine, craft beer, and a delicious buffet dinner by I Cater To You of Greenport.
The combination of wonderful food, a talented musician, fine drink, and the Society’s most revered guests is sure to make it an evening to remember.

“Play with Pumpkins”

We are teaming up with Southold Free Library for an autumn afternoon filled with family fun. Have fun carving a pumpkin on the museum grounds and finding out how fast you can move in a pumpkin roll race!
Afterward, sip warm apple cider and cozy up for a spooky story by the light of your Jack O’ Lanterns in the barn, read by Dana Bruey who delights young audiences as a Children’s Service Librarian.

Horton Point “Lighthouse Keepers”

Each season, a terrific group of dedicated volunteers comit to be “Lighthouse Keepers” at the Society’s Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse. We are so grateful for their enthusiasm and support. It was a wonderful season filled with happy visitors who shared an abundance of postive feedback with us. Thank you the Lighthouse Keepers for their hard work greeting and guiding visitors through the Nautical Museum.
Special thanks to Jill Wilson and Ray Nofi, the Lighthouse co-chairs who have done an amazing job of organizing and leading this vital and passionate group.

Museum Day

Saturday, September 21

Southold Historical Society is proudly participating in Smithsonian Magazine’s 15th Annual Museum Day in “celebration of boundless curiosity”.
Discover the history of one of Long Island’s earliest settled towns, Southold! Tour our founder‘s home as well as other historic buildings, stroll across the sprawling museum grounds, and be sure to stop by the beautiful community Boxwood Garden.
Check out the summer exhibition “On the Waterfront” and discover the history of our local waters and gain perspective about its future.
Reflect upon our past while visiting the new “Slavery in Southold” exhibit which examines the lives of enslaved people in Southold Town, their servitude, their daily life, the possibility of freedom or lack thereof.
Admission to the Museum Complex is free on Museum Day as long as you bring your downloadable ticket from Smithsonian Magazines’s website.

If you are unable to join us on Museum Day, the Museum Complex will be open on Sunday, September 22nd from 1-4pm. Regular suggested admission of
