Welcome to Our New Education & Programming Liaison

————

Please join us in proudly welcoming Anakin Jackson Mignone to our staff. We are thrilled to have a local community member join our team, bringing both deep roots in Southold and a strong passion for storytelling and education.

Mr. Mignone is a documentary filmmaker and educator whose work focuses on creative storytelling and community engagement. He will serve as the Museum’s Education & Programming Liaison. His experience spans film production, education, and cultural programming, including work as a film assistant and researcher with Wavelength Productions on projects such as Rather, as well as his own documentary projects. He has also worked as a film editing tutor with ReelWorks.

In addition to his role at Southold Historical Museum, Mr. Mignone serves as Special Projects Coordinator at Southold Free Library, where he supports educational programming, outreach, and marketing initiatives. He is an active member of the local creative community, frequently hosting open mic nights and events at Greenport Harbor Brewery that bring people together and foster meaningful creative connections.

It’s Time for After-Christmas ‘Blue Line’ Finds at Our Shops

————————–

The Museum Gift Shop and the Treasure Exchange are open weekdays—making it the perfect time to discover special after-holiday finds and unique local treasures.

At the Treasure Exchange, be sure to ask about our “Blue Line” items—if you know, you know 😉

Browse an exceptional selection of quality items, including children’s toys, educational gifts, locally made goods, wine-related items, jewelry, and the area’s largest collection of local history, art, and recipe books.

Both shops, located in the Prince Building, are open five days a week and will resume Saturday hours beginning January 17

Thanks to Corinna, Our 2025 Gardiner Young Scholar

——————————-

We’re so grateful to Corinna, our 2025 Gardiner Young Scholar intern, for all her wonderful work at Southold Historical Museum! During her internship, Corinna led informational tours for students, helped create educational flyers, and assisted with organizing materials—all while learning about Southold’s fascinating history.

Southold Historical Museum is proud to offer internships that give students a behind-the-scenes look at the many facets of museum operations. We are especially thankful to the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation for making these meaningful opportunities available to local students.

Thank you, Corinna—and thank you to the Gardiner Foundation for their continued support!
