Voice Your Support: PDC Hearing

We need your help in support of a historic landmark

honoring the wireless communications industry.

Our goal is to install a commemorative plaque at the site where the first portable cell phone call was made in New York City on April 3, 1973, by Martin Cooper of Motorola, Inc. The plaque will be seen by millions of visitors as testament to the positive impact that the wireless communications industry has made on humanity.

On February 13, 2023, members of the Celebrate the Call Committee will present testimony to the Public Design Commission (PDC) to request approval for the plaque’s installation. Your support is critical in achieving PDC approval.
