THE CHURCH ANNOUNCES
A NEW RESIDENCY SCHEDULE
AND RESIDENT LINEUP FOR 2023
The Church, the center for art, creativity, and community located in Sag Harbor and founded by Eric Fischl and April Gornik that opened in April 2021, announces the launch of a new pilot ARTISTS RESIDENCY program for 2023.
Residents have been nominated for selection by community members and industry colleagues that include Fischl, Gornik, Chief Curator Sara Cochran, Executive Director Sheri Pasquarella along with Thelma Golden (Studio Museum in Harlem), artist David Salle, Zach Feuer (Co-Founder, Forge Project), Duke Dang (Works in Process at The Guggenheim), dance impresario Gina Gibney, Susan Scarf Merrell, artist Judith Hudson, Robby Stein (Board Member Space at Ryder Farm), writer Alex McNear, and others.
The 2023 Artists in Residence are: LayeRhythm (dance/ music, with Works and Process at the Guggenheim), Morgan Bassichis (performance), Margaret Garrett (dance & mixed media), Johnnie Cruise Mercer (choreography), Albino Mbie (music & songwriting), Ivan Cofield (painting), Darryl Westly (painting), Nanibah Chacon (painting), Naudline Pierre (painting) Drew Zeiba (writing) Candace Hill-Montgomery (painting, mixed media, poetry) Marian Mitchell Donahue (writing) Raja Feather Kelly (choreography & writing) Cy Keener (visual art) Paul Miller (mixed media) Madison Moore (research), Pacifique Irankunda (writing) and Autumn Knight (mixed media and installation).
