Of all the questions children have, all the time, (and you know there are many…) here’s a chance to illustrate and expand on some that relate to our history, science, especially in 2026, as America celebrates 250 years.
————
How did our first colonists who came to our shores survive? Consider: The importance of seeds. Where do corn seeds come from and what are their properties? Why and how were they originally ground? How much does water weigh? How is the weight of falling water used in the grinding process? What are millstones? How does the water flowing from the 7 Ponds to Mecox bay move the stones? What 400-year-old-job is still done to enable the mill to operate?
————
Come find out the answers to these questions and more on Thursday, June 25 at the Water Mill Museum from 3-4 pm.
