For eight months, the WHBPAC Board of Directors and Staff have repeated the mantra “the theatre is dark, but illuminated.” While we watched many venues close their doors and go quiet, we immediately began to innovate and devise new ways to deliver on our mission to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of the arts while enriching the community’s quality of life.
————
Since the pandemic began, we have offered over fifty programs for our patrons, including live-streamed concerts, drive-in summer concerts (praised by the Governor!), socially distanced classes and camps, virtual master classes with Broadway artists, streaming international films, and drive-in rare concert films.
————
We’ve also developed several community initiatives – partnering with other not-for-profits to put on blood, food, and toy drives, offering more scholarship programs than ever, and leading the charge in advocacy as part of the Save Our Stages movement. We’ve founded a Cultural Equity Council comprised of stakeholders that will make sure we serve all the members of the community in which we exist.
————
But the truth is, in spite of promising vaccination news, our path to hopefully reopening this summer will rely on your help. Please consider including WHBPAC in your holiday giving – sustain us now, so that when we are able to safely open our doors again, we can welcome you back with open arms and the high-quality, world-class performances, films, and education offerings you’ve come to expect from us.
————

You are the light that keeps us illuminated.

————

Happy holidays and best wishes for 2021!
