NEW “SIP” SERIES
PART OF ITS CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO EXPANDING
ADULT ARTS EDUCATION
Last fall, WHBPAC piloted “Sip & Speak”, a program geared towards adults (21+) looking to improve their public speaking skills, while having fun, and a cocktail or two, while doing it. The program was met with great excitement and what followed was a successful six weeks of fun & learning. This fall, the beloved program returns for a second year and with the addition of a new and separate program entitled “Sip & Sing,” taught by East End Cabaret Queen, Valerie DiLorenzo!
“We’re so excited to offer not one but TWO Sip! Classes this fall,” says Julienne Penza-Boone, Director of the Arts Academy and Teaching Artist of Sip and Speak, “For years we’ve been engaging young people in high quality arts education experiences, and now we hope to expand into providing the adults in our community with those opportunities as well!”
Sip & Speak!
Tuesdays, 7 – 8:30pm
October 22 – November 26
It’s no secret that most everyone is terrified of public speaking. It’s also no secret that public speaking becomes a little easier after a glass of wine. We’ll give you the glass of wine…and we’ll also give you the tools you need to give speeches like a pro. Using fun source material from plays, literature, and famous speeches, Arts Academy Director Julienne Penza-Boone will have you finding your inner politician, CEO, or Oprah in just six weeks.
Sip & Sing!
Wednesdays, 6 – 8pm
October 23 – December 4
Performances: December 7, 7pm & December 8, 2 & 7pm
Love to sing? Love a good libation? Put it all together at Sip and Sing! This class – taught by professional singer and cabaret queen Valerie DiLorenzo – includes mini voice lessons for all with group vocal exercises to strengthen your voice and improve breath support, learning and singing fun and upbeat songs, and of course, wine tasting! No experience necessary and ability to read music is not required! Lyric sheets are provided. Students will have the opportunity to perform as part of our Holiday Spectacular in December!
Ages 21+ are welcome. Non-drinkers are encouraged to attend too! The most important part is learning together in a fun and casual environment.
