Call for Interns: Collections & Archives

The Southampton History Museum is seeking enthusiastic College and Senior High School students to become interns this Summer to support our Collections & Archives team. From historic whaling logs and ledger books to archaeological finds and decorative arts, our collections tell the rich story of Southampton’s past. Interns play an important role in helping us care for them.

Interns will work alongside museum professionals on hands-on projects including monitoring and cataloging collections, digitizing materials, and assisting with exhibition preparation. This is a great opportunity for anyone curious about museum work and eager to learn behind-the-scenes skills.

Ideal candidates are collaborative, detail-oriented, and ready to jump in. Prior museum or gallery experience is helpful but not required. Interns should be comfortable working in historic spaces, including uneven surfaces, light dust, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).

If you or anyone you know is interested, please complete the form at the following link and someone will be in touch with you very soon!
