THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTIONS

Thank you all for the many questions… and future reservations.
Answers to your FAQ below:

Yes…. the Southampton Inn is definitely open and we welcome your reservations.

Yes – Coopers Beach is “open”. While non-resident daily vehicle passes will not be sold this season, the Inn’s polka dotted shuttle is running daily from 9:30-5 (weather permitting). The beach bathrooms will be open, cleaned every hour, with limited access (one or two people at a time). The concession may be open–take out only. The chairs and umbrellas will not be rented this year, but our guests are welcome to take the Inn chairs and umbrellas which are disinfected after every guest use. (And of course, our striped beach towels for your use). You can also (as always) walk the 1 mile to Coopers Beach or rent/ride inn bicycles. The shuttle will even meet you at beach with our chairs and umbrellas should you decide to walk. Note: the shuttle will accommodate only 4 people (or one family unit) per trip to maintain social distancing.

Yes – Claude’s is open as the Great American Picnic from 7 am to 7 pm. The pool bar is open daily at noon. Plaza Cafe is available for its renowned gourmet take-out for your dinners. We provide guests with an updated list of all restaurants in the Village that are available for to-go dining. And the Inn has lawns, patios, courtyard, and even a spacious ballroom for your picnic spots, distanced from others. Very old fashioned and traditional dining this year…

Yes – unique boutiques are open although, as with retail throughout the nation, there are some vacancies on Jobs Lane and Main Street. But those that are open are really (really) looking forward to your visits. Limited numbers of people at a time will be permitted inside the shops for your (and their) safety. And window shopping, on-line sales, and curbside pick up are offered by many.

Yes – but not quite yet – the big beautiful swimming pool at the Inn is open and ready to swim (although not yet heated to your preferred 84 degrees). We are waiting for governmental ok. The pool itself is balanced and chlorinated (CDC says it is safe to swim). But the lounge chairs are spread out within the pool gates as well as outside gates onto the surrounding lawn. They are cleaned before and/or after guest use. And we have plenty of towels for you to spread across seating areas. We ask that you not eat, drink or congregate (or “party”) at the pool. We anticipate unlocking the gate imminently.

Yes – cancellation policies are flexible for 2020 with a 7 day-cancellation and refund, less a $25.00 processing fee. We find that reservations by telephone (631.283.6500) or on our website, provide an easier cancellation process at this time than bookings through third parties.

Yes – there are lots of things to do in our historic and classic Southampton Village this year. There are wonderful walking and hiking trails. You can bicycle through the magnificent estate area outside our door. You can play tennis on our all-weather court. You can play croquet (all day, hooray, with rose…). We have outside ping pong, horseshoes, badminton, and shuffleboard. All equipment has a disinfecting protocol before and after guest use. And meandering through the charming downtown streets is always a wonderful experience.
—–
Yes – you can explore local history like the natives. See buildings built during the 1600s, 1700s and more and learn more about Southampton’s history.
—–
Yes – you can go off the beaten path by exploring Southampton’s pristine nature preserves like Wolf Hollow Swamp, Emma Rose Elliston Park and Tuckahoe Woods Preserve.
—–
Yes – we do have bags of books from Bedside Reading available for you to take to your guest room or to an Adirondack chair on the lawns or in the garden.
—–
Yes – the restaurants are scheduled for opening as early as June 9th (although the dates do change. Please feel free to call and inquire as we monitor the covid-19 guidelines).
—–
