May, 2024 (Sag Harbor)—Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce popular TV personality and Bay Street Board of Trustees member Joy Behar and friends, including Susie Essman, Tovah Feldshuh, Sherri Shepherd, and more will perform MY FIRST EX-HUSBAND, Behar’s all-new show MY FIRST EX-HUSBAND is a series of monologues, both funny and poignant, written by Joy Behar and will grace the stage one night only on Saturday, June 22nd, @ 8 PM to benefit the Bay Street Theater. MY FIRST EX-HUSBAND is produced by Rose Caiola, Cyrena Esposito, and Tracy Mitchell in collaboration with the Bay Street Theater.

JOY BEHAR is among today’s leading comic talents. Whether performing standup comedy or interviewing artists and politicians, she is an original voice and leading woman on both stage and screen. She was a member of the original cast of ABC’s “The View” for 16 years, returning as co-host in September 2015. Along with winning the 2009 Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host, Behar is also the recipient of three MAC awards, a CableACE Award and a 2000 GLAAD Award for her enduring support of the LGBTQ+ community.

On television, she starred in two HBO specials and was a regular on the series “Baby Boom.”Her film appearances include This Is My Life directed by Nora Ephron, and Woody Allen’s Manhattan Murder Mystery. She recently appeared in Woody Allen’s Amazon Prime Video series “Crisis in Six Scenes.”

In June 2016, Behar was inducted into the Brooklyn Walk of Fame at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Behar has hosted her own shows, including a call-in radio show on WABC, “The Joy Behar Show” on HLN, and “Say Anything” on Current TV.

On stage Behar starred in Nicky Silver’s play The Food Chain, for which she earned rave reviews, and in Eve Ensler’s critically acclaimed play, The Vagina Monologues. She also wrote and performed in her own solo show, Me, My Mouth and I at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Behar has written five books, including two children’s books. Her most recent book, “The Great Gasbag: An A-to-Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World,” was released in 2017. As a playwright, Behar has written My First Ex-Husband, Crisis in Queens, and Bonkers in the Boroughs.

ROSE CAIOLA (Producer) is an eight-time Tony Award-winning producer – recent productions include Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club which is currently nominated for nine Tony Awards®, and the upcoming off-Broadway Bonkers in the Boroughs with Joy Behar. She co-wrote the book for the musical Rock & Roll Man which won the 2023 AUDELCO Award for Best New Musical, and for the Outer Critics Circle nominated Freckleface Strawberry: The Musical, based on the book by Academy Award Winner Julianne Moore. http://caiolaproductions.com

CYRENA ESPOSITO (Producer) is a long-time manager, former agent, and founder of Red Letter Entertainment, representing some of the industry’s finest and award-winning talents. She produced the Tony Award-winning musical, Memphis, and is producing Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, which is currently nominated for nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival, and the upcoming off-Broadway Bonkers in the Boroughs with Joy Behar. TRACY MITCHELL (Producer) is a long-time television, film, and theater producer, currently serving as the Executive Director at Bay Street Theater for the past 16 years. She has garnered numerous Cable Ace awards, the Gracie Award (Foundation of American Women in Radio & Television), and two Primetime Emmy Nominations for her ABC Special, hosted by Oprah Winfrey. Her work included the ground-breakingIMAX ride-film, BACK TO THE FUTURE-THE RIDE for Universal Studios.
