Please join us in kicking off the summer with our second annual Community Stars event! Each year we honor different members of our community for their contributions to Bridgehampton. Dai Dayton and Charlie Marder are two Bridgehamptonites who have made preserving and improving the environment a focus of their lives. They play key roles in creating ways for the public to enjoy nature and in helping to protect our delicate East End ecosystem.

Come and join us at the newly renovated Nathaniel Rogers House to see all of our new exhibits and to celebrate Dai and Charlie as true Community Stars.

Meet our honorees

Dai Dayton

President of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt

A 13th generation East Hampton native, Dai has had our local area in her heart her whole life. She moved to Bridgehampton in 1985 and was a founding member and president of the Southampton Trails Preservation Society. With help from then Town Supervisor Fred Thiele, she has helped to preserve over 300 miles of public trails with STPS. Now the president of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt who steward a 1100 acre coastal plain pond preserve, Dai continues to be a shining light for ecological preservation in our local area.

Charlie Marder

Owner of Marders

Charlie and his wife Kathleen started their landscaping business in 1975 with aims at helping homeowners create unique landscapes that emphasized the character of the local environment. Their work can be seen all over the South Fork from private residences to our very own property at the Nathaniel Rogers House. While emphasizing designs that utilize and enhance the local environment, Marders also implements organic practices and procedures in all divisions of their work and hosts various Garden Talks throughout the year educating the public on a wide variety of topics.
