Big news—we’re thrilled to announce that the Pavilions will begin a phased reopening on October 17 while renovation work continues!

Scheduled visits for October 17 and later will be available on September 18. Stay tuned for more information about the reopening timeline and new exhibitions next month.

“Sculptures are like people, in that you see them more fully over time.”—Charles Ray

Currently crouching, standing, and reclining along the main path at Glenstone are four intricately machined stainless steel sculptures by artist Charles Ray. This is the fifth presentation in an ongoing series organized in close collaboration with the artist, and the first to be presented outdoors. Whether it’s a depiction of the artist himself atop a tired nag or a youth clad in a bedsheet toga clutching a toy sword, Ray’s sculptures draw viewers in to examine details.

“My question is, why does working with a black figure necessarily mean that the work loses a universal quality? Not to perceive its universality seems to me to be a shortcoming of the audience rather than of mine.”—Lorna Simpson

Iconoclasts: Selections from Glenstone’s Collection brings together rebellious and revered works of art into a century-spanning exhibition. The show recently received its first refresh of certain galleries, and visitors can now experience new works by James Castle, Louise Bourgeois, and Lorna Simpson.

Come spend the waning (and hopefully cooler) days of summer immersed in nature, art, and architecture. Through September 28, we are open until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. On those evenings, we offer a guided walk at 5pm, weather permitting. Last entry is at 6pm.

Saturday, September 14 will be our final evening of live music at the Patio this summer! Enjoy a serenade in the shade by the Kennedy String Quartet who will perform a set of pop classics. Summer evenings continue every Friday and Saturday until Saturday, September 28.
