News from the Farm – November

—————————————

Dear Friends of Hallockville,

As autumn settles in at Hallockville, I am reminded that a farm is never truly still. Even as the growing season winds down, there is always something happening here—new connections being made, traditions being carried forward, and opportunities to bring our community together.

Since joining Hallockville Museum Farm as Executive Director, I have been struck by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, members, and supporters. This place has a remarkable history, but what makes it special is the community that continues to give it life. As we look toward the holiday season, I am excited to share several ways we will welcome you to the farm in the coming weeks.

In November, we will welcome the Winter Farmers Market to Naugles Barn on Saturdays, bringing together local farmers, food producers, and artisans throughout the colder months. This market is about more than shopping locally. It is an opportunity to support small agricultural businesses, strengthen connections between the people who grow our food and the people who enjoy it, and help the next generation understand where their food comes from. We are delighted to have the market at Hallockville and look forward to making it a meaningful part of our community throughout the winter. Join us Saturdays through April from 10am-2pm.

On November 27-29, the Country Parlor will offer a wonderful opportunity to shop for the holidays while supporting local artisans and craftspeople. I hope you will join us and bring a friend!

Then, on December 6th, our annual free Historic Holidays at Hallockville will invite visitors to experience the farm through the traditions, skills, and seasonal activities that connected families to the land in generations past. From historic demonstrations to family-friendly activities and traditional foodways, the program offers a chance to slow down, make memories, and discover how people celebrated and prepared for the winter season before modern conveniences transformed daily life.

These programs reflect what I believe Hallockville does best: connecting our agricultural past to the lives we lead today. Whether we are supporting local food producers, celebrating the creativity of our community, or sharing the traditions of earlier generations, we are creating experiences that bring people together and ensure this history remains relevant and alive.

As we approach the end of the year, I hope you will visit, participate in a program, bring your family, or introduce someone new to Hallockville. Your membership, generosity, volunteer time, and attendance all help sustain this special place and allow us to continue growing our programs and our impact.

Thank you for the warm welcome you have extended to me. I am grateful to be part of Hallockville’s next chapter, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving and a joyful start to the holiday season.
