As we enter the season of gratitude, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. From fun festivals and engaging workshops and presentations to the continued preservation of our historic buildings and farmland, 2025 has been filled with meaningful moments that celebrate our shared heritage. We’re excited to keep the joy growing as the holidays approach — with festive traditions, community gatherings, and new and returning programs already in the works for 2026.

COMING EVENTS

There’s still so much to look forward to before the year comes to a close!

We are thrilled to collaborate with the Rites of Spring Music Festival for a concert titled “Rhythms of the Terroir: Cycles From Our Earth” at our historic Naugles Barn this Friday, November 14 at 5 p.m. Enjoy an evening of extraordinary music inspired by nature’s rhythms. Tickets are $40 for Hallockville and Rites of Spring members and $50 for the general public. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Hallockville. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Festival’s website at Rhythms of the Terroir Performance.

Creativity will be flowing at our Get Arty Paint & Sip Party on Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. in the Naugles Barn. It is a chance to gather with friends and paint something special with an autumn theme. No experience necessary. $35 for members and $40 nonmembers. Registration is required at Get Arty!

We invite volunteers to lend a hand during our Fall Cleanup on Saturday, November 22 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., helping us keep the farm looking good for all who visit. To sign up, email Lillian at lillian@hallockville.org.

It wouldn’t be the holidays without the beloved Country Parlor Holiday Folk Art & Gift Show, and it is back at the Naugles Barn this year. Come shop for the holidays for unique handmade gifts created by more than 30 artisans. November 28, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., November 29, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., November 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Our Holidays at Hallockville celebration will have all of the old favorites — historic house tours with costumed docents, cookies in the Homestead and music in the Cichanowicz House — plus a few additions including a puppet workshop, crafts for kids and a toy exhibit in the Trubisz House. Plus, the Museum Store will be open. Free and open to everyone, December 7 from 12-3 p.m. Not to be missed!

Sammy the Snowman Basket Workshop

Last but not least is our final workshop of 2025 with master basket weaver Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas on December 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Put your weaving and decorating skills to the test and add this cute “Sammy the Snowman” basket to your winter decor. Hang on your door and fill it with pine branches or use to store your favorite winter hats and mittens.

Out and About the Farm

We have said it many times and we’ll say it again — the members of the Tuesday Crew are the tops! They have accomplished so much at Hallockville, and we are eternally grateful for their efforts. Their most recent project was creating and installing our great new road sign.

We partnered with ReWild Long Island North Fork for a Native and Meadow Gardens tour and seed swap. It was heartening to have so many native plant fans gather together at the Farm.

Our jam-making workshop with instructor Gabi Spielmann was a hit, and we plan to have Gabi back again in the spring for another class. What’s not to like about jam?

We feel very fortunate to have welcomed more than 1,000 students for field trips this year. Most recently 9th grade students from Riverhead Middle School paid us a visit.

Naturalist John Turner spoke about the “Natural Secrets of Long Island,” which was a very educational and entertaining presentation.

Master Beekeeper Chris Kelly is here doing what he does best — teaching people about beekeeping. This time it was how to prep hives for the winter.

It is always a pleasure to have the Sound Avenue Stitchers meet here. If you are interested in the fiber arts, come join them the first Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Hudson-Sydlowski House.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Annual Meeting on November 2. We had a Volunteer Reception before the meeting when we got a chance to thank some of our volunteers. We could not do all we do without their help!

***********************

As we look ahead to festive gatherings and all the joy they bring, we are reminded that Hallockville thrives because of you — our members, volunteers, neighbors, and friends. Your enthusiasm and generosity for this special place keep our history alive and our community connected.

We hope you’ll join us in the weeks ahead, and we can’t wait to share even more meaningful experiences with you in the coming year. From all of us at Hallockville Museum Farm, thank you and may your Thanksgiving be filled with peace, laughter, and the warmth of tradition.

All the best,

Heather
