Live Music / Silent Film
Pioneering Women Directors 2.0
—————————
The Jamesport Meeting House’s exciting Live Music/Silent Film series gets rolling again this June. The ACME Quartet will accompany classic and contemporary cinema in an historic atmosphere at the 1731 Meeting House. The first program, Pioneering Women Directors 2.0 will screen on Friday June 14 at 7:30pm. It will feature several works by French director, Alice Guy Blaché.
Blaché was the first female film director at the dawn of cinema in the late nineteenth century. From 1896 to 1906, she was probably the only female filmmaker in the world. Narrative filmmaking started with Blaché. She was artistic director and a co-founder of Solax Studios in Flushing, NY. Her work laid the foundation for all who make films today.
Tickets are $20 and are available at www.jamesportmeetinghouse.org, with remaining tickets at the door.
This film series has been both historic and new at once. Contemporary music and silent film will transport the viewer to places past and future. Cinema on the East End is at a crossroads and we think this is a great way to experience it. The Jamesport Meeting House offers the community a new way to look and listen to films. The series is both curated and scored by The Aquebogue Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) led by Cliff Baldwin.
Mark your calendar for Friday June 14th. Wine and snacks reception afterwards. The series has been well received. Audiences are thrilled by Live Music / Silent Film.
