World Acclaimed Pianist Magdalena Baczewska

to Perform at Jamesport Meeting House on May 4

JAMESPORT, NY (April 18, 2024) — World acclaimed pianist, Magdalena Baczewska, whose performances have mesmerized audiences throughout America, Europe and Asia, will perform in-concert at the Jamesport Meeting House on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will mark her fourth appearance at this historic venue, and will be followed by a reception with the artist. 

Ms. Baczewska’s May 4th concert will be dedicated to the French composer, conductor and teacher, Nadia Boulanger, and will feature compositions by Boulanger’s favorite composer, J.S. Bach; her famous students Philip Glass and Aaron Copland; and works by Boulanger herself and by her sister, Lili. The concert will conclude with Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, a composer whom Boulanger refused to take on as a student.

Hailed by ConcertoNet as “One of the most innovative, even radical classical keyboardists in the U.S.” and “eloquent and technically flawless,” by The Washington Post, Ms. Baczewska made her solo debut at age 12 in Poland with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed internationally with the world’s leading orchestra’s including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the China National Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony. In addition to her concert performance career, Ms. Baczewska is a professor of music and director of the music performance program at Columbia University.

The Jamesport Meeting House, erected in 1731, is the oldest public structure on the East End of Long Island, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is prized by performers for its superb acoustics as well as its historical significance. The building is owned by the nonprofit Jamesport Meeting House Preservation Trust, a 501c3 charitable organization.
