On behalf of the Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA), and in partnership with our allies across New York State, we’re calling on you to help defend vital arts funding.
Governor Hochul’s FY26 budget proposal slashes arts support by 36%, threatening the vibrancy and sustainability of New York’s creative communities.
Now is the time to act. Urge your state legislators to add the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) at $200M to their One-House Budget priority list.
ArtsNYS has created a simple template letter for you to customize and send directly to your legislators.
The letter includes:
- A request to include NYSCA on their Budget Priorities List (these lists are due this week!).
- The $200M Ask for NYSCA, which breaks down to:
- $150M for Aid to Localities & Agency Operations
- $50M for the Arts & Cultural Facilities Improvement Program (ACFIP)
What you should add:
- A brief description of how NYSCA funding benefits your work or enriches your community.
With the One-House Budget being finalized this week, your voice is critical to ensuring the arts remain front and center for every New Yorker.
Thank you for standing with us and our allies throughout New York State in advocating for robust funding for the arts.
Sincerely,
Lauren Wagner
