Dear Friends,

—–

I hope this email finds you and your family healthy and safe in these unnerving times.

—–
We are hoping to open the garden for its 26th season in mid-May. As you all know, Spring is the time to spruce up the garden, but in order to get up to speed due to the unanticipated New York State shutdown, we have found ourselves in an extremely strapped position. In other words, Madoo is already feeling the pinch. We typically look forward to our spring and summer events and tours as revenue boosters, but as of now all have been cancelled, furthering our difficulties.

—–

We have been thinking of ways to broaden our outreach and wondering if you might consider making a donation at Madoo.org or purchasing an original Robert Dash artwork, like these works on paper (see below), to support the garden. Madoo would be most appreciative.

—–

Stay safe,

—–

THE SAGAPONACK SUITE, 1980

ORIGINAL PRINTS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE AT MADOO.ORG

Forty years ago Madoo founder Robert Dash set about creating a suite of three prints that memorialized the Sagaponack landscape surrounding Madoo–one that was quickly beginning to disappear. Simply go online to madoo.org and a Dash print can be yours. Whether for your own home or for holiday gift-giving, each print supports the Madoo Conservancy.

Beautifully printed in editions of 175 this suite captures the light and the expanse of the area. All serigraphs are signed, titled and numbered by Dash in pencil. These large scale images include Sagg Bridge, which as Dash used to say, “That’s the proper way to enter Sagaponack,” Sagg Meadow, with its rough, untrammeled nature, and Sagaponack showing the iconic Foster family farm buildings with a clear violet sky.

The Garden, 1971

ORIGINAL LITHOGRAPHS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE AT MADOO.ORG

In October 1971, Robert Dash completed six paintings of his home and gardens at Madoo that would become maquettes for Garden magazine. Lines were chosen from the diary of his close friend James Schuyler, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. The following year the suite of six lithographs was printed by Yann Samson at Shorewood Atelier in New York City in two editions of 65, one in black and white and one in color. 41.75 x 29.75 inches. Signed and numbered.
