BIG NEWS: Digging for the first floor Aquatic Center pools began this month!
• 25-yard, 4-lane fitness pool: water safety education, instruction, training, recreation, certification, events
• 32 ft x 33 ft shallow wellness pool: rehabilitation, therapy, instruction—ideal for toddlers and seniors |

MORE BIG NEWS: The 2nd floor has been formed
and the multi-use Cultural Center is under construction!

Construction on the first floor Aquatic Center and second floor multi-purpose Cultural Center officially began in the spring and continues at a swift pace. Completion is slated for summer 2025.

The second floor multi-use Cultural Center will feature a modular/flexible layout with three separate event spaces available (via two motorized partitions), adaptable for small to large gatherings. Other features include a warming kitchen, two lounge areas, and two glass enclosed meeting/study rooms.
This remarkable progress was achieved by generous leadership gifts from our donors and the sustained enthusiasm and support of our community!

RECENT FEATURE STORIES ON THE PLAYHOUSE PROJECT

During a walkthrough tour, the enormous progress that has been made in just the last few months was showcased… Sarah Iudicone, president of the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation, stressed that fund-raising — both in the hamlet and in the larger township — is still very much continuing. “It’s important for the community to know that this is their space,” she said. “The construction part is fully funded, but we are still fund-raising, and it’s vitally important to have the furnishings and all the things to fill the playhouse” purchased, installed, and ready for use on the day the work is completed.

The long-planned completion of the unfinished half of the Playhouse, for which the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation is still fundraising, will include both the first-floor aquatic center, which will also feature a second, 32-foot-by-33-foot shallow pool for instruction, recreation and physical therapy; and a second-floor, multi-use cultural arts center… [Iudicone said] “I really want [the community] to be excited and feel like it belongs to them, and to support it. As construction continues, the Playhouse Foundation is turning its focus to raising the essential funds needed to outfit and furnish the newly completed spaces to prepare them for vibrant programming and services that will enhance the quality of life of all members of our community, for years to come!
A wide variety of community and cultural programming will take place in the 2nd floor Center, which will feature a modular/flexible layout, adaptable for both large and small purposes, with modern amenities to meet our community’s needs.
