This week at the Custom House…

The NL HarborCam is a major feature at the Custom House.

Our HarborCam viewership reached 5.2M last week. There is a lot going on in the harbor these days, so much to see: USCG boats, dredging, barges, ferries, tugs, the swing bridge — not to mention a pair of friendly swans. You’ll remember our 2023 Annual Fund campaign: Be Part of Something BIG. With the HarborCam, online exhibitions, and our social media, it appears we really are big. Thank you all for your support.

You may have read in the Shoreline Times that NLMS applied for stewardship of the Lynde Point Lighthouse in Old Saybrook. We believe in lighthouse preservation and in public access to all our important landmarks. We’ll keep you posted.

We have an important new fundraising initiative.

Support the NL Maritime Society while protecting the earth. http://tru-earth.sjv.io/NewLondonMaritimeSociety

Tru Earth launched in April of 2019 by three friends in British Columbia Canada who had a vision to reduce the number of plastic laundry jugs that end up in landfills every year. Every year 700,000,000 laundry jugs are unable to be recycled and end up in landfills. To date Tru Earth and our community of Change Makers have helped reduced this by 2 million with our revolutionary laundry strip technology. Tru-earth laundry detergent is sold in strips — no plastic!

Personally, I have used Tru Earth for a couple of years and know it’s a wonderful product. Please give it a try, reduce plastic use, and help NLMS at the same time!
