To book a tour for up-to five people, please send us an email. Tours are given every Saturday and Sunday at 11:45, or schedule a custom time during the week.

Tickets are $35, $30 for NLMS members, $25 youth through age 18.

We always start off the new year with a bang at the Custom House!

One hundred and forty five years ago, on January 1, 1879, Race Rock Light Station was first lit. This wonderful granite lighthouse, erected on a mostly submerged ledge at the western end of Fishers Island, was completed after seven years of amazing determination on the part of the engineers and builders, among these New London’s Captain T.A. Scott.

It was a staggering achievement — hip hip, hooray!

Photo: Model of the Gulf Weed. The original ship was built on the beach at St Martins by Capt. Gumbs, who used the vessel for inter-island shipping and transportation. When he moved to New London, the captain made this model. A relative, Mike Dusant, inherited and restored the model then loaned it to the Custom House Maritime Museum.
