Happy Friday,
On Saturday night, the Sapan Theatre in Greenport is turning into a blues club, and we couldn’t be more excited! Featuring the Bobby Bryan Band, Seydurah, and the SaRon Crenshaw Band, our second annual Blues Night is finally here. Today is the last day to get early-bird pricing tickets!
If you’re looking for a movie this week, we’ve got two new ones: The End of Oak Street and Nimrods, an ode to Green Day.
And while there’s plenty of excellent summer still to go, we’re also starting to think about some great fall happenings including NFAC hosting the new chapter of the Butterfly Effect and the newly-reimagined Maritime Festival!
Cheers!

Hellenic Film Festival & Screening of King Otto
|
Friday, September 4 | 7:00 pm
|
In the summer of 2004, audiences looked on in disbelief as the Greek National Football Team, a country that had never previously won a single match or even scored a goal in a major tournament, took down the giants of world football to become the unlikeliest of European Champions. The architect behind this unprecedented triumph was legendary German football coach ‘King’ Otto Rehhagel. After accomplishing every major success in Germany, he made the bold decision to leave all he knew behind and work in a foreign country with the underachieving Greek National Team. This is the story of how these two contrasting cultures came together to speak the same language and write a new chapter of Greek mythology.

6-Week Playwriting Workshop with Gail Kriegel (Ages 16+)
|
Saturdays starting September 12 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM
|
Bring your outlines, drafts, or completed works for a play or musical to share and develop in a lively and supportive environment. Through a collaborative, peer-to-peer process and guided feedback, we’ll explore what works – and what doesn’t work – on the stage. The class will also include cues on structure, character development, dialogue, stage directions, pacing, beats, subtext and the role of the playwright in production. Above all, this workshop fosters an encouraging and creative environment.
Gail Kriegel’s play CRACKED OPEN, was produced Off-Broadway at Theatre Row and was a finalist for the 2025 BroadwayWorld Award for Best Drama. She wrote the book, lyrics, and music for SWEETEE, which ran Off-Broadway at the Signature Theatre in New York and was recipient of an Audelco Award. Read more about Gail.
