As a child in the early 1980s, Gerad Argeros fell victim to the Reverend James Brzyski, the most prolific known abuser in the Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In 2017, the second in a series of tragic deaths of Brzyski’s other victims made it clear the time had come to tell the story of Fox Chase Boy.
Between 2020-2024 Argeros developed two new short live pieces: Love Letter – a performance born out of downtown dance theater in 1995, a reimagined artistic practice in 2025, and an essential act of recognition that performance is community. Bag of Bones is a secular eulogy that uses as its spine a Wawa bag filled with artifacts, memorial objects, remains, and funereal ephemera related to deceased intimates.
Gerad Argeros is a writer, director, performer, producer, and father from Northeast Philadelphia. Now based in Brooklyn, Argeros’ original theatrical performance Fox Chase Boy channeled bar basement open mic stand-up comedy aesthetics, maitre’d hotel improvisation, DIY and Punk performance venue irreverence, and avant garde experimental theater haughtiness. The live show which began as a deeply personal story evolved into the short documentary film Fox Chase Boy, a reminder that some families solve problems best in the street.
