Last year, our community came together to strengthen and expand our artistic, film, and educational programs. Thank you for everything you’ve made possible for this young, vibrant non-profit theater and art center, which opened its doors to the public just under two years ago. Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited to share that we are building on that progress!
After extensive dialogue with our community, we’re officially launching the installation of an ADA-compliant elevator. With a projected completion date in mid-May, this improvement will arrive just in time for the third annual residency of the Brooklyn Ballet, which will open our summer program.
The new elevator will bring full accessibility to our historic second-floor theatre, allowing more members of our community to comfortably attend programs and gatherings in the upstairs space. During construction, we will keep three of our four theaters open on a new Wednesday–Sunday winter schedule. NFAC will continue offering regular programming throughout the school year, including our Youth Advisory Board, Teen Film Club, classes in screenwriting, fiction writing, and acting, and the return of NFAC’s “Rocket Your Potential Brand You! Workshops” to help high school students prepare for what’s next.
With this major capital improvement, we’ve reached a natural moment to pause, reflect, and thoughtfully plan for 2026, laying the groundwork for leadership transitions that will support our long-term growth as an arts center serving the North Fork for years to come. Central to this moment of transition are the leaders who have helped bring us this far, and those joining our team to help us build forward.
On behalf of all of us at NFAC, I want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to two essential members of the NFAC family, Liz Gillooly and Shannon Goldman, who have been instrumental in our growth and success since our founding in 2023. Liz, a twice-elected Town Trustee and new mom, has accepted an exciting new role with the Peconic Land Trust. Shannon is returning to the work he was doing when he first joined our mission, growing his successful company, Super G Films. Their leadership, dedication, and vision have helped make the North Fork Arts Center the cultural heartbeat of our community, and we are deeply grateful for their exceptional contributions.
To support these transitions, Alison Omens is joining our leadership team, and Meghan Connolly is taking on the role of coordinating operations. We are excited to welcome Alison, a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, who brings extensive nonprofit and public-sector experience to NFAC. Most recently, she served as Managing Director of Programs and Strategic Engagement at JUST Capital and previously advised former U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, where she led an inclusive capitalism strategy for the Obama administration. We are also fortunate to have Meghan, a recent graduate and standout student from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications. We are confident and excited to have Alison and Meghan with us as we continue to build NFAC’s future.
Thank you for believing in the vision of NFAC and for walking alongside us through this time of growth and transition. Your support makes it possible for us to remain a welcoming, inclusive cultural home for our community.
