OHS is privileged to present The Weather, a special exhibition by acclaimed artist Barbara Bloom, appearing in the Old Point Schoolhouse until late September.

Bloom has received numerous honors including the Venice Biennale Due Mille Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, Getty Research Institute Fellowship. Her solo exhibitions include ones at the Serpentine Gallery, London; Los Angeles-MoCA; MoMA; The Metropolitan Museum; The International Center of Photography; The Jewish Museum, New York.

In this compelling exhibition, Bloom draws from the OHS collection of seascape paintings, partially obscuring sea and sky and offering only glimpses of drama or calm. Displayed alongside are custom carpets bearing raised-dot Braille texts, each a different literary description of weather. Together, the works invite you to look closer.
