What a night!

We are so delighted by the incredible turnout at last Saturday’s Bingo Night at Poquatuck Hall. The energy was electric, the laughter contagious, and a grand time was had by all—and none of it would have been possible without YOU.

A huge thank-you to:

  • All our attendees—members and new faces alike! (Newcomers: you can join OHS for as little as $30 — join here!)
  • Co-chairs Tina Silvestri and Dave Pugh, and all our amazing volunteers
  • Everyone who donated, raffled, or gave a little extra — your generosity means the world
  • Those who donated personal items for C.A.S.T. — those contributions will make a real difference
  • Our generous raffle donors: Bedell Cellars, Panoramica Coffee, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and 1943 Pizza Bar
And we’re saving the best for last—a MASSIVE thank-you to the one and only Billy Hands, Bingo Caller Extraordinaire! You kept the energy high and the whole evening running like a dream.

Mission: Oysterponds Historical Society (OHS) brings people together to share and celebrate the unique history and culture of the North Fork hamlets of Orient and East Marion. By presenting shared experiences from the past, we connect our rich heritage to the present and pass it on to future generations.

History: OHS was founded in 1944 to preserve the historical significance of the East End hamlets of Orient and East Marion. Founding members were concerned about the gradual disappearance of artifacts, documents, family records, tools, art, and other surviving evidence of the maritime, agricultural, cultural, and religious life of the early residents of this area. With the support of its members, OHS maintains seven historically significant buildings; cares for 8½ acres of grounds; delivers myriad compelling exhibitions, programs, lectures, children’s programming, and other activities; and actively manages a collection of over 60,000 items, dating from pre-Colonial times all the way to the present.
