“What’s a docent?” you ask.

Docents are Oysterponds Historical Society’s ambassadors, greeting visitors and answering questions at OHS’s historical buildings that are open to the public on a regular basis during the summer months.

Join our docents—you can make a lasting impact on visitors to Oysterponds Historical Society (OHS)!

Village House and Webb House—in addition to being period-furnished throughout with significant items from the OHS collection—feature exhibition galleries upstairs in each of the buildings’ former bedrooms. The Red Barn features a multi-media exhibition focusing on North Fork fishing and farming.

Docents volunteer for three-hour shifts throughout the summer during exhibition hours (Fridays 2-5pm; Saturdays 11am-5pm; and Sundays 2-5pm). Village House and the Red Barn open to the public on Saturday, May 24th. Webb House opens on Saturday, July 12th.
