Happy 150th birthday Poquatuck Hall!

John Holzapfel’s free lecture will chronicle the fascinating history of the Hall and its important place in the social, political and cultural history of the Oysterponds community for the past 150 years.

Six New Village House Exhibitions

Starting Saturday, May 25th, 11am – 5pm – Village House

Six new exhibitions curated by William McNaught include “Loren A. Rowley, East Marion Photographer”; “William Steeple Davis: Etchings”; “Recent Acquisitions”; “The 150th Anniversary of Poquatuck Hall”; “The Kitchen”; and “Children’s Clothes” (pictured above), co-curated by Sarah Olmstead.

Exhibition hours: Fridays & Sundays: 2pm to 5pm; Saturdays: 11am to 5pm.

Free lecture

“Ancient Artifacts of Eastern Long Island”

Saturday, June 8th @ 11am – Old Point Schoolhouse

Dr. Lucinda Hemmick and Ephraim Horowitz of the Southold Indian Museum will present a lecture on the ancient landscape of Orient and the Native People who once lived there. Explore 12,000 years of history, Algonquian culture and the landscape that changed from the Ice Age to the present day.

The technology of ancient hunting weapons, artifacts, maps, slides, LiDAR images, paintings and other images illustrate the talk. A question and answer period will follow.

OHS Summer Benefit!

Saturday, August 3rd

The Oysterponds Historical Society Summer Benefit returns and everyone is invited to enjoy the festivities! Join friends and family in one of the East End’s most beautiful settings—Poquatuck Park, overlooking Orient Harbor at sunset.

OHS’s outdoor gala is the premier event of the summer, bringing together a wide audience drawn by the elegant appetizers (including a raw bar!), cocktails, and wines with good friends while bidding on stunning works of art and unique experiences.
