I hope that you will join the Peconic Land Trust in its mission to conserve Long Island’s working farms, natural lands, and heritage. For 40 years, with the help of many, we have protected nearly 14,000 acres from development for generations to come. But there is much more to do as we continue to witness the loss of places that we hold dear – farms, woods, shorelines, vistas, and more.

As a nonprofit, tax-exempt conservation organization, we depend upon private contributions to identify and realize alternatives to development in concert with landowners, communities, and public partners. Please join us with a generous gift so that together we can:

  • Conserve and steward the natural, agricultural, and cultural resources that make Long Island special.
  • Support agriculture and the farmers who grow local crops including healthy food.
  • Protect watersheds, shorelines, and land sacred to our Indigenous partners.
  • Revitalize our ponds and bays as we restore water quality.
  • Connect people to land and grow a diverse conservation community.
  • Ensure a strong and enduring organization.

As the year-end approaches, you have an opportunity to make an end-of-year gift to the Trust go twice as far. If you donate to our Annual Fund from December 14 to December 31, 2023, your gift will be MATCHED thanks to a generous donor who will provide up to $250,000.

Any gift under $5,000 will double its impact with a one-for-one match. A gift of $5,000 or more will provide a two-for-one match. That means your year-end gift of $500 will become $1,000, or your gift of $5,000 will become $15,000, 3 times the impact.

Give now to make 2X… or even 3X… the impact!

Thank you for considering a gift to the Trust in support of conservation in your community and beyond. Together we will continue to make a difference on Long Island. I wish you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season, and a wonderful 2024.

Yours,

John v.H. Halsey

President

P.S. The Trust is a privately funded 501(c)(3) charitable organization that depends on people like you to conserve what we know and love. If you own property on the East End, please note that the Trust does not collect or distribute the funds from the 2% real estate transfer tax, also known as the Peconic Bay Region Community Preservation Fund.
