Fall Migration Bird Walk

Saturday, September 12, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Broad Cove, Overlook Drive, Aquebogue

Now is the perfect time to get outdoors to view a variety of bird species as they migrate to warmer climates. Peggy Lauber, President of the North Fork Audubon Society, will lead this walk along the wide trails with accessibility features at the Trust’s Broad Cove Preserve. You’ll learn tips to help identify birds by their song, flight pattern, and body shape. Along the way, we’ll share information about the ecology of this waterfront 100-acre former duck farm acquired by the Trust in 2021. Bring binoculars and tick protection. Program in partnership with North Fork Audubon Society.

Making and Enjoying Kimchi

Kimchi, made from vegetables and fermented over time, is a deliciously healthy addition to your table, and can be enjoyed right away or stored to ferment for months. Either way, making it is easy and fun.

Join us for this workshop, led by community gardener Justin Ruaysamran and Garden Director Rick Bogusch. You’ll learn the easy steps to creating and enjoying your own kimchi and receive recipes to take home. For this hands-on workshop, bring your own quart-sized jar and a large spoon.
