Book
Promoting Long Island: The Art of Edward Lange, 1870–1889, published in September 2024, explores the work of Edward Lange, whose paintings illustrate Long Island’s landscapes in the late 19th century. Featuring over 100 meticulously reproduced, full-color images, the book is both edited and authored by Lauren Brincat and Peter Fedoryk. Contributing essays by Jennifer L. Anderson, Thomas Busciglio-Ritter, Joshua M. Ruff, and Robert C. Hughes, Esq., deepen the examination of Lange’s art and the region’s history. This work represents over two years of dedicated research into Lange’s life and aligns his idealized landscapes with historical realities. Building upon decades of study and institutional collection efforts, Promoting Long Island offers a nuanced portrait of both Lange and the Long Island he depicted.
