Step into the late nineteenth-century world of Edward Lange (1846–1912) and follow his journey as an immigrant artist encountering a Long Island rapidly changing around him. His artwork circulated within Long Island and beyond, drawing in tourists seeking recreational fun in towns along the North and South Shores.
This three-dimensional exhibit of watercolors, photographs, and historical objects from our collection and on loan from collections across Long Island, is inspired by the release of Preservation Long Island’s latest publication of the same name, which presents over two years of new research into Edward Lange’s life and work.
Take a photo in our Victorian parlor with period furniture and objects on display from Funk and Swagger Antiques.

ALL three of our historic houses are open for tours through October 5th. Tours are FREE with a Preservation Long Island Membership!
Custom House in Sag Harbor Open Saturdays with guided tours from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Joseph Lloyd Manor in Lloyd Harbor Open Saturdays and Sundays with tours at 11:00 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:00 PM.
Sherwood-Jayne House in East Setauket Open Saturdays with tours at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2 PM.
