Earth Yoga Outside with Amy Hess

Wednesdays, 9:00 – 10:00 am

Join yoga instructor Amy Hess for a one hour class.  Yoga class will be held in a large outdoor space on woodchips, near the pond, weather permitting. Please bring a sheet/blanket and your yoga mat.  Dress to be outdoors and consider sunscreen & repellant. 

Pre-register online or by calling, walk-ins welcome. $15.00 per class.

Meet the Animals! 

Thursday, August 1st, 2:30 PM- 3:15 PM

Come to the nature center to meet a snake, turtle, bird of prey, mammal, and some creepy crawlies! This is a great hands on experience for kids of all ages.

Reservations required, children must be accompanied by an adult. $5 per person.

Paddle the Pond

Mondays, August 5th & 19th, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Explore Old Ice Pond via kayak or canoe during a self-guided paddle, or join up with a QWR Educator to learn about the history of the Refuge, and the flora and fauna of this freshwater ecosystem. A program for adults and families with children over 5 years old (children between 5 to 12 years old must be in the same boat with an adult). Reservations and pre-payment required, as space is limited, so please reserve early.

Single kayaks, double kayaks, and canoes can be reserved by calling (631) 653-4771.  $30 per person, $15 for kids 12 and under.

Tortoise Animal Ambassador Storytime
Saturday, August 17th at 10:00 AM

Join Quogue Library storyteller for a special story hour, including a simple craft and a special visit from one of our ambassador animals. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is offered in collaboration with the Quogue Library.

Full Moon Night Hike 

Tuesday, August 20th, 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Celebrate the full moon with a guided hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon. 

Reservations and payment required at least 24 hours in advance.  A program for adults and families with children over 11.  $10 members/$20 non-members.

Live Birds of Prey! 

Thursday, August 22nd, 2:30 PM – 3:15 PM

Join us in the nature center to meet our resident raptors in person. During this 45 minute presentation, you will learn about native Long Island raptor species, as well as how you can help protect them.  Learn about their diets, habitats, and physical adaptations that make them excellent hunters. 

Please arrive several minutes early. This program is for adults and families with children ages 6 and older. Reservations and pre-payment necessary. $10 per person, $5 per child under 10.

End of Summer Party!
Thursday, August 29th, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

 End the summer on a note of celebration and good memories! Don’t miss the photos from the 9 weeks of summer fun the campers had during the Summer Ecology Program. Followed by snacks, refreshments, and raffles. Feel free to contribute a snack or drink to share.

This party is for kids who attended the Summer Ecology Program and their families. Reservations required.
