Shane Weeks will discuss the Indigenous practices of land stewardship on Long Island and the importance of the plants used traditionally by Indigenous people of the area during this virtual presentation on Zoom. He will also highlight some of the current rematriation efforts of traditional staple food, medicinal, and ceremonial plant species. Shane Weeks is a proud member of the Shinnecock Nation, artist, culture bearer, and educator dedicated to preserving Indigenous history, fostering cultural exchange, and supporting future generations through community leadership and creative practice.
