Full Moon Night Hike

Friday, January 10th, 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Celebrate the first full moon of the New Year with a guided hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon. We’ll begin our hike at twilight, just as the sun sets to better observe wildlife.

A program for adults and families with children over 11. $10/members, $20/non-members.

Live Birds of Prey!

Saturday, January 11th, 2:00 PM – 2:45 PM

Join us in the nature center to meet our resident raptors in person. During this 45-minute presentation, you will learn about native Long Island raptor species, as well as how you can help protect them. Learn about their diets, habitats, and physical adaptations that make them excellent hunters.

For adults and families with children age 6 and older. Reservations and pre-payment necessary. $10 per person, $5 per child under 10 years old.

Light the Night Winter Trail Walk

adults only between 5:45 PM – 6:30 PM, and for
all ages 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM

Join us for this magical winter evening walk! Come to the Refuge for a self-guided, peaceful stroll through the gently lit forest trails.

$15 per person, $10 for kids 12 and under. Bring a reusable mug and enjoy a complimentary warm beverage. Please purchase tickets on our website.

Guided Winter Hike to the Dwarf Pines

Join a QWR Educator for a guided hike to the ecologically rare dwarf pines ecosystem. This 3-mile hike is on relatively flat terrain, and will include information along the way about native flora and fauna.
Space limited. $5 per person.
