Celebrate the full moon with a guided hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon. We’ll begin our hike at twilight, just as the sun sets to better observe wildlife. Reservations and pre-payment necessary, as space is limited. Join a Quogue Library storyteller for a special story hour, including a simple craft and a special visit from one of our ambassador animals. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is offered in collaboration with the Quogue Library. Reservations required, $5 per child/ free for QWR Members.

Ticks and Tick-Borne Disease – What You Need to Know!

Chances are that you, or someone you know, has been diagnosed with Lyme or another tick-borne disease. Jerry Simons, PA-C, a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center, and an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook Medicine, will speak about the types of diseases that are carried by the different species of ticks found on Eastern Long Island in the Nature Center. Attendee swill receive a free tick removal kit and tick-disease handbook. A free program for adults.
