Tiny Trailblazers

Join us for a gentle nature sensory walk designed for toddlers (1 to 3 years old) and their caregivers. Using sight, sound, touch, and smell, young explorers will discover the Refuge in a whole new way. Feel the textures of tree bark and moss, listen for birds and insects, search for colorful plants, and smell native species along the trail. Perfect for little ones who love to wander, wonder, and discover, this relaxed walk offers a fun introduction to nature for the whole family. Stroller friendly. $5 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Alpha Gal Meat Allergy
– Caused by a Tick! – VIRTUAL

Do you know someone who can no longer eat meat? Allergist Erin McGintee, MD of ENT and Allergy Associates, and a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center, will lecture on zoom about the Alpha-gal meat allergy which is caused by a bite from the Lone Star tick. Dr. McGintee has treated over 1,000 East End residents for this allergy, and she is considered a regional expert in the field. This is a free program.

Sunset Paddle on Old Ice Pond

Celebrate the last days of the summer season with a sunset guided paddle on Old Ice Pond. Learn about the history of the Refuge, and the flora and fauna of this freshwater ecosystem. Register for single kayaks, double kayaks, or canoes. A program for adults and families with children over 5 years old (children between 5 to 10 years old must be in the same boat with an adult). Reservations and pre-payment required, as space is limited, so please reserve early. Single kayaks, double kayaks, and canoes can be reserved by calling (631) 653-4771. $30 per person, $15 for kids 10 and under.

Fall is the perfect time for planting perennials, and what better way to support Long Island’s natural beauty and wildlife than by planting native plants? An Autumn Equinox Evening

Celebrate the arrival of autumn with an evening at Quogue Wildlife Refuge. Join Ocean Fog Farm of Eastport for a relaxed, hands-on floral workshop inspired by the changing season. Ocean Fog Farm will guide participants through creating a beautiful, dried flower Mason jar arrangement that will brighten your home through the Fall and Winter. Their workshops are designed to be an opportunity to slow down, enjoy working with flowers, and connect with fellow flower enthusiasts. Sip local wine, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and create a one-of-a-kind bouquet to bring home and enjoy. $80 per person, please register in advance as space is limited.

Box Turtle Animal
Ambassador Storytime
Saturday, September 26th

Join Quogue Library storyteller for a special story hour outdoors at the Refuge, including a simple craft and a special visit from one of our ambassador box turtles. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is offered in collaboration with the Quogue Library. Reservations required, $5 per child, free for 2026 QWR members.
