While you’re making summer plans, don’t forget these upcoming events for kids! There are still a couple spots available for the Brooklyn Acting Lab’s immersive two-week summer theater camp, July 22 to August 2, at the Shelter Island History Center. There, youth ages 6 to 12, tell stories and develop characters, sing, dance, and build an original show to share with families and friends. Week One: Participants will explore a theme and collaboratively create a theater production guided by experienced teaching artists who are both educators and theater professionals. No prior experience is necessary to participate in this supportive and nurturing ensemble experience. Week Two: The second week will be spent rehearsing the piece for the Friday afternoon performance open to family and friends. The camp is designed to showcase new work crafted for and by children, and cultivate their individuality as artists and developing social beings. For more information and to register, click here. |

Kids can also keep busy with ceramics classes this August. Instructor Jude Amsel has two different courses for children. Each set of four classes is $175. Click here for details. |
