Shelter Island History Museum Receives DHPSNY Award!
|
The Shelter Island History Museum is excited to announce that we have received a Planning and Assessment Service award from the Documentary Heritage and Preservations Services for New York (DHPSNY).
“This grant will enable us to work with a planner to craft a new three year strategic plan,” said Nanette Lawrenson, executive director of the SIHM. “We are thrilled that DHPSNY has helped us increase and expand our mission.”
The Shelter Island History Museum collects and preserves the artifacts, records and stories that define the island’s unique history.
We welcome and connect our community by exploring our shared history through exhibits, research, educational programs and performances.
Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York is a collaboration between two long-running New York programs dedicated to service and support for archival and library research collections throughout the state: the New York State Archives Documentary Heritage Program and the New York State Library Conservation/Preservation Program. DHPSNY is supported by the New York State Archives, New York State Library, Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), and the New York State Education Department. DHPSNY’s Strategic Planning Assistance curriculum was developed in collaboration with the New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON).
