You’re Invited to Experience

Living History Day on Sept. 15

Join us for an exciting Revolutionary War reenactment from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, Sept. 15 during our Living History Day!

The grounds of the Maple Lane Complex, at 55200 Main Road, Southold will be transformed into a living history encampment featuring the reenactors from the Third New York Regiment. Visitors will experience 18th-century camp life, including demonstrations of firearms, military drills, and other daily tasks. There will also be blacksmithing, spinning, basket weaving, printing press, and carpentry demonstrations, as well as music by Eastern L.I. Old Time Jam.

The Museum buildings will be open for tours. Admission is free. Donations gladly accepted.

Have you seen our special seasonal exhibits this year at the Maple Lane Complex and Nautical Museum at Horton Point? The exhibits will be closing after Sept. 15.

–Come experience Southold Theatre: Vaudeville to Jesus Christ Superstar, featuring memorabilia from some of the wonderful local productions that ran in our town from the late 1800s to the 1970s. In the Mayne Gallery at the Maple Lane Complex.

–Join us for the specially curated exhibit This Land is Made for You and Me in the Reichert Family Barn at the Maple Lane Complex. Step into the past and learn about the laborers and their families who worked the land and lived in migrant camps in Southold. Curated by Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, executive director/chief curator at Eastville Community Historical Society.

Our summer intern, Casey Christensen, created this short video of our summer exhibit: Southold Theatre: Vaudeville to Jesus Christ Superstar, which we posted on YouTube and TikTok.

Enjoy a brief look at the exhibit, then plan to come experience it at our Mayne Gallery in the Ann Currie-Bell house at the Maple Lane Complex.

Exhibit is included with admission. Open 1pm – 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays through September 15.
