Southampton Arts Center, the multi-disciplinary arts center located at 25 Jobs Lane in the heart of Southampton Village, today announced the promotion of Amy Kirwin to Artistic Director. Ms. Kirwin joined SAC in May 2016 as Director of Programs, driving the overall growth of the institution to over 200 programs annually, in a now year-round operation. Ms. Kirwin will report to Tom Dunn, Southampton Arts Center’s new Executive Director.

“We are extremely proud of what SAC has accomplished since opening our doors in 2013 and as we enter this exciting new chapter, SAC is poised for continued growth and impact.” said Simone Levinson, Southampton Arts Center Board of Directors co-chair. “Over the past two years, Amy has proven herself to be an innovative and dynamic programmer. We are confident that she is the perfect person to step up into this new role and shape the overall artistic vision of Southampton Arts Center.”

“I am delighted and honored to continue the work of the past two years, now as Artistic Director. In my new role I plan to expand our robust partnership model by continuing to collaborate with those who have been so much a part of our early successes, and to seek out new programmatic partners, far and wide,” said Ms. Kirwin. “I am excited to build on SAC’s unique programming with thought-provoking, socially and culturally relevant, world-class offerings.”

“Amy is a tremendously talented curator and collaborator. Her work is well respected on eastern Long Island, in New York City and well beyond. It is my privilege to work with Amy in the realization of her artistic vision.” added Tom Dunn.

Ms. Kirwin moved to the East End in 2010 and worked at the Parrish Art Museum for 6 years, most recently as Visitor Services and Museum Programs Manager. Prior to that she lived in New York City and worked in the Broadway and Off-Broadway industry. Amy made the move to New York from Southern California to continue post-graduate acting studies at Circle in the Square Theater School. She embarked on her professional career behind the scenes as an Off-Broadway Box Office Manager and was later part of the founding team at 59E59 Theaters as Director of Sales. She later joined The Broadway League as Marketing Manager for Partnerships. Ms. Kirwin resides in Hampton Bays with her husband Peter Kirwin and their two rescue dogs.
