View historic aerial photos of Southold at the “Soaring Over Southold” special exhibit and see how much our town has changed, or not changed, over the years. See if you can spot your house or business!

Open weekends, 11:30 – 4:00. Admission is just $5 or $10/families.

Note: Southold Park District lot charges $5 additional parking fee for non-residents.

Registration for the morning and afternoon sessions for our History in the Making Pickleball Tournament is closed (waiting list only), but you can still join in the fun.

Whether you’re participating in the tournament or just come and watch, all are welcome. There will be exciting game day raffles!

The morning tournament will start at 9:00 am and the afternoon session will start at 12:30 pm on June 1 (rain date June 2) at Tasker Park in Peconic.

Memorial Day originally was called Decoration Day, because it was the day to go and decorate fallen veteran’s graves. The tradition started just after the Civil War. By the 1880s the name changed to Memorial Day. Donated by Alice Wells.

Happy Memorial Day, and remember those who gave their lives for our country.

The theme of our Ten Squared online art exhibit and sale this summer is “After the Peconic Bay Impressionists”. In this non-juried exhibition, artists can submit up to three pieces of work that are 10” x 10”. Each work will be sold for $100, half of which will benefit Southold Historical Museum.

Finished works are due with submission forms to Southold Historical Museum the week of June 10 – 14. All mediums are accepted. Please email art@southoldhistorical.org for artist inquiries or call 631.765.5500. The online exhibit and sale will be July 15 – August 31, 2024.

As some of you may already know our dedicated office assistant of 15 years, Walter Jackson, has officially retired and moved to South Carolina to live with his son and son’s family. Walter is truly one of a kind and we will all miss him very much.

If you or someone you know is interested in a part-time position in our office, we are looking for someone to assist up to 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities include reception, errands, office work, and light maintenance. Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean record and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. preferred. Flexible schedule. Salary range: $18 – $20 hour.
