Get ready for a memorable evening filled with live music at the Maple Lane Complex as we present the talented local band, Route 48. Known for their performances blending Rock, R&B, and Driving Blues, Route 48 promises to deliver an unforgettable musical experience.

Mark your calendars for August 23rd from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and bring along a chair or blanket for this outdoor event. Admission is free, courtesy of the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs. It’s a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history and beauty of the Maple Lane Complex while enjoying live music. No hard coolers are permitted. Chances are $60 each. One winner will be chosen for every 100 tickets sold. Please return check and completed form by 2pm, Sept. 1.

Quilt Valuation Event at Our Special Quilting Exhibit

——————

We are pleased to present a unique opportunity to meet Joyce Fischer, an AQS certified quilt appraiser, on August 17, 2024, from 9am – 12pm at the Effers Collection Center where our current Quilts of Bygone Eras exhibit is on display.

Fischer will be offering quilt appraisals for insurance purposes at $55 per quilt (cash preferred). Secure your appointment by calling 1-516-376-8063 and leaving your contact details.

Don’t miss the enlightening lecture at 1:00 pm discussing the significance of quilt appraisals and insights into what judges consider when evaluating quilts.

The Quilts of Bygone Eras exhibit is available as part of the usual Maple Lane Complex admission and is open on Saturdays ONLY from 1pm -4pm in July and August, except July 27 and August 24.

Are you passionate about history and eager to share your knowledge with others? The Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us as docents (guides) to help welcome visitors and bring our historic exhibits to life.

Prospective docents will have the chance to shadow our experienced volunteers to gain insights into the role and familiarize themselves with our exhibits. The flexibility of volunteering allows you to contribute as much or as little time as you can spare, ensuring a rewarding and educational experience tailored to your schedule.
