At the turn of the 20th Century, artists were drawn to the East End for its light and beauty. The early painters were Irving Ramsay Wiles and Edith and Henry Prellwitz. Some other notable North Fork artists included Caroline M. Bell, Julia Wickham, Whitney M. Hubbard, and Otto Joseph Kurth. The painters not only painted en plein air, but also painted still lifes, portraits, and genre art. A century later, artists are still coming to the East End to paint.
